SPR was awarded a Power Purchase Agreement to Build-Own-Operate a 100MW combined-cycle gas power plant in 2010. Commercial Operations commenced on 13th August 2014.
The facility is located in Kimanis, Sabah. It operates as a single block in a 2:2:1 arrangement comprising of 2 units of dual-fuel GE Frame 6B PG6581 gas turbines, 2 Heat Recovery Steam Generators, and 1 steam turbine generator. Dry Low NOx burners are used for better efficiency and lower environmental impact. The plant uses air cooled condensers and heat exchangers. The primary fuel is natural gas, with distillate used as backup secondary fuel.
SPR also constructed 5km of pipeline and metering facilities, and the 132kV Lansat Substation in the course of the project.
Since 2017, SPR has partnered with GE Power Services on this plant to provide comprehensive Operations and Maintenance for the duration of the concession period. This Multi-Year Agreement (MYA) includes GE’s first implementation of its Asset Performance Management (APM) software solution in the ASEAN region.
